First step is to set-up a COM port for your Bluetooth connection on your PC. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your control panel, click on COM ports tab then add a COM port. Select "incoming COM port - device initiates connection", click ok and take note of the number of the COM port selected.

Open Activesync and go to file: connection settings and check "allow connections to one of the following:" and set the COM port number to that you created on step 1.

Set-up partnership on your PC. Go to the bluetooth settings on control panel or double click bluetooth icon on the bottom right of the toolbar. Go to devices tab and add device then follow the instructions. Make sure to accept the connection on your pda. Before finishing the partnership set-up, make sure that activesync is checked under "services to be used by this device".

Once your pda and pc have been paired, on your pda, go to activesync program, select menu, then connect via bluetooth. Wait for PC to detect connection and set-up a new partnership.

Notes:

If you have previously paired your pda and pc, unpair it so that you have better chance of connection.

Bluetooth Pairing Using Bluetooth Soleil Software:

First things first: DO NOT PAIR your mobile phone to your desktop first, we will do that later. Unpair any previous connections that you did or delete it from your mobile phone's Bluetooth devices. Follow the steps below:

  1. Open up your Bluetooth Soleil Software
  2. Go to "My Services Menu" then click properties
  3. Click the "Serial Port A" Tab and take note of the Serial Port Service or COM Port being used, (mine is COM 12). Make sure that the "auto-start my device.." is checked.
  4. Go to your desktop Activesync software and select File, then connection settings. Under "Allow connections to one of the following", select the COM port that you noted in step 3 above.
  5. Go to your mobile phone's activesync software, select Menu, then "connect via Bluetooth". Your mobile phone will say there's no PC with available activesync connection, etc, etc, press OK, you will be taken to your phone's Bluetooth menu.
  6. Under your mobile phone's Bluetooth menu, go to devices tab and "add a new device...". Select your desktop PC and begin pairing, just follow the instructions.
  7. When your phone says that your PC has been paired, go to the advanced Tab, there should be activesync checked under the services tab. Click on OK.
  8. Go to your mobile phone's activesync software again, select menu and then "connect via bluetooth". You should be able to connect to activesync right now. Hope this helps.

Your Bluetooth Device should come with a CD so you can install it on your PC if you're using XP. Some Bluetooth dongles are plug and play compliant which means you just plug it in and windows will automatically install and detect the drivers.

If your Bluetooth software doesn't have a CD, check the internet for the drivers.
