I'm not actually totally finished with this review yet but here are my initial impressions. Also, the never ending iPhone comparison: Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 vs. iPhone side by side pictures, more images after the jump.

Update: Finally finished reviewing the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10.Updated everything.

Design

At first I thought 4.0 inches would be massive but I'm surprised that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is only a tad taller and wider than the iPhone. It's also thicker by just a few millimeters. Unlike the HTC Legend, there's no hint of metal on the Xperia X10 but the battery cover is made up of soft touch materials. I was excited about the overall design until I came upon my first problem with it: pop-up battery cover. What is it about pop-up battery covers? Do mobile phone companies know that girls actually use their phones and that pop up covers takes a toll on our fingernails?!

Anyways, it's so hard to open the back cover. And that's not the only thing that I don't like about the design. The microSD card and the Simcard slot is hard to reach as you need to remove the battery in order to swap the two.

The screen is really awesome. It actually seems better than the AMOLED on the Samsung B7610. Will do a sunlight legibility test soon. Sunlight legibility is better than the Samsung B7610 although you still have to squint in order to use it fully in very direct sunlight. The screen is made of glass which is really smooth to touch, your fingers just glide over the screen like butter on a hot knife. I’m debating whether to ruin the experience with a screen protector or risk lowering its resell value when I eventually manage to scratch the screen.

As for the build quality: it's an awesome looking phone. Sleek and sexy, can't help admiring it every time I look at it. Feels a bit iPhone-y. The sharp edges add something, I don't know, sophisticated to the overall look of the phone.

Click and hold in a typing area and select the "Android Keyboard" The default keyboard is utter crap. Also make sure to get the firmware update from Sony. It addresses many things including keyboard precision issues. Do these and the difference is night and day.

@ Rachel: You can download games for it at the Android Market. It's in the menu with the name "market". As for themes, it's not possible with Android phones. You can however download wallpapers for it.
