Xperia X10 To Get Multitouch and Android 2.1 in September?

According to mobiles.co.uk, during the launch of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, a rep said that the X10 is due for a very "big" update come second half of 2010, around September maybe. A lot have been speculating that this is Android 2.1 and according to mobiles.co.uk's inside man, multi-touch is also on the table as it seems the limitations is not hardware based. But does this mysterious employee know more than Sony Ericsson's product manager? Then again, this could be a ploy to get more people to buy the X10 over the HTC Desire, Nexus One, or the Legend.

I know what you're thinking--September?! That's 5 months from now and by that time, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 would be overshadowed by something much more--Incredible? And if not something incredible, maybe something EVOlutionary?! But still, it's good news for current owners of the X10 but then again, if I were you, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Those who're thinking of getting the X10, with or without multi-touch, can check out my Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Review to see if it's worth your time.

Do say anything about the screen update rate - It's pretty low, about half of any similar mobile...
