So, you got yourself a nice HTC HD7, chances are, your mobile phone may be locked to the network you've purchased your phone. If you're on O2, you're lucky, you can just call up customer service and ask for your unlock code (though some have bad luck with this). Other networks would require you to top up (if you're on Pay as you go) or complete a certain number of months (if you're on contract). If you don't like to top up or don't want to wait any longer, you can always buy an unlock code (for a fee) either on eBay or other unlocking websites on the web. Price range from £15-£20.

I have tried to purchase a code on eBay but since I need it within 24 hours, I had to cancel my purchase with the seller because he said it would take a day more. So I searched the net and found good reviews for HTCimeiunlock.com from members at xda-developers.com. They claim they can give you the code within 15 minutes but since I need reassurance, I contacted them and I got a fast response. I asked if they have my unlock code on their database, sent them my imei and the name of my network as well as my phone model, also asked them in what time zone they were located in case I decided to purchase the next day. They said that they do have the unlock code and that everything is automated. Once you enter your phone model, imei and network, they will search the database and inform you if they have the unlock code and once you paid, they'll instantly send you the code.

HTC HD7 Review

So, I finally got my hands on a Windows Phone 7 handset, the HTC HD7. Out of all the Windows Phone 7 mobile phones to choose from, do you think this one's for you? Let's find out.

Hardware

Well, there's one thing I have to say about the HTC HD7, compared with its other siblings (Omnia 7, HTC Trophy, HTC Mozart, etc) this mobile phone is huge! Having a 4.3 inch screen, I have to say, this is not for female users with smallish hands because one handed use is almost impossible. However, the HTC HD7 seems not to be targeted to a female audience but more of the male side so the 4.3 inch screen may not be an issue for some. Getting a 4.3 inch screen could have its advantages especially if your phone has a kickstand and if you can playback any videos on your video library thanks to the auto conversion on Zune.

On top of the HTC HD7 is the power button which is somewhat annoying because it seems so recessed into the handset that pushing it down could be a bit of a pain. Another hardware gripe that I have is that the headset jack is not located on top but instead, on the bottom right beside the microUSB port. It's an odd position but I guess HTC is thinking that with the kickstand and all, users would probably prefer having the headset jack on their right so that no wires would obscure their views. The volume rocker is located on the right side of the handset, at first I thought there's no volume controls since I got so used to my volume rockers located on the left side but again, HTC had to consider that with the kickstand, the phone would stand on its left side so they left the whole left side of the handset blank of any hardware buttons.

How to access Pandora BBC iPlayer outside US and UK

I have been to mobile phone forums and I was always curious about Pandora Radio that our US brothers are raving about. Sure, there are alternatives like LastFM which I do use a lot but out of curiosity, I decided to research some ways so I can get access to Pandora radio and other websites that only cater to US traffic.

Well, it turns out you can use a VPN service so that your IP address can be hidden and the websites you're visiting will think you have a US IP address. However, there aren't a lot of VPN services that are free, for those that are free, either they're not located in the US or it slows down you internet connection. So far, the best one I've tried is ibVPN. They give you two hours free access so I readily gave it a try, also, I was trying to find ways to get hold of Amazon's free $3 MP3 voucher and you could only download Amazon's MP3s from the US. By the way, I found out about this website from NMCNNIC.com.

I've been searching for the perfect screen protector for my iPhone 4 and the SGP Steinheil Ultra Oleophobic Screen Protector has been one of the highly recommended screen protectors in the forums I've visited. So let's see how this screen protector fares.

Installing the SGP Steinheil Ultra Oleophobic Screen Protector was pretty easy. The package comes with two screen protectors, a microfiber cloth, and a squeegee. If you're worried about lints getting under the protector, try installing it in the shower with the hot water running. Anyways, all the cuts line up pretty good and installation takes around 3-5 minutes. You can use the squeegee to iron out any bubbles. Usually the screen protectors that I install leaves some bits of bubbles but on this one, I got none which is really great, maybe it's the protector or maybe luck, who knows.

Missing Internet Tethering Option on iPhone 4 after 4.1 update

I've been using the Internet Tethering option on my iPhone 4 ever since I've had it. It's a great way to connect to the Internet if there's no WiFi in sight, however, after updating to the 4.1 firmware from Apple, I connected to the internet via bluetooth tethering and then the option in settings just went missing.

Before, on my iPhone 3G, what I did was just reset the network settings, restart my phone, and it appeared but that doesn't seem to be the case. I tried to search Google but all I found was for the old 3G and 3GS instructions. Well, I stumbled upon this by accident and it seems that you need to enter a separate APN for Internet Tethering under the network settings menu. Maybe this is a new option for the 4.1 firmware.

After that, the Internet Tethering option in settings magically appeared. So for those of you having a hard time finding the internet tethering option for your iPhone 4, hope this helps.
