So I've already featured the Samsung Galaxy S II on my recent post but after seeing the Galaxy S II microsite from the Samsung Facebook page, my interest was doubly piqued. Let's take a closer look at Sammy's latest offering to the mobile phone world for 2011.

HARDWARE
Like I've mentioned before, the Samsung Galaxy S II features a 1 GHz dual core processor,  twice the processing power of most Android smartphones released last year which means your phone would be blazing fast. The S2 will also have a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus screen, which will give you a brilliant display and enchanced viewing experience. I'm already sold by AMOLED so I can't wait to see how Super AMOLED Plus will look like. So what else differentiates the Galaxy S2 from the rest of the Android smartphone announced at the MWC? Well, it's also the thinnest mobile phone to date, measuring at just 8.49mm thin so if you want your mobile phones served sleek and sexy, the Galaxy S2 might just be your cup of tea.

Okay, so my first post about the latest mobile phones for 2011 needs to be updated because of the ongoing Mobile World Congress at Barcelona. This convention has the newest mobile devices we can expect to see this year. I really need to sell my mobile phone in preparation for all these great handsets but I've yet to made up my mind. Here are the phones to watch out for and add to our lists:

LG Optimus 3D

Since Avatar 3D pretty much is the in thing. The LG optimus 3D is the first mobile phone capable of glasses free 3D plus it has dual cameras on the back to help you shoot in 3D plus it also has a dual core processor and runs on the latest build of android.

Powwownow Conference Call App

There are a lot of conference call apps for the iPhone in the App store and one of these apps is the Powwownow Conference Calls. Now I know what you're thinking, the iPhone can already do conference call natively on the phone why would you need an app for that?

Well, for those who don't know how to make a conference call on the iPhone without an app, you just dial the number of one of the participant, put that person on hold, call the other participant, then merge the calls. Voila! You're now conferencing on the iPhone. But you have to note that when you conference call and you're the one initiating the calls, you're charged for each call you make. Not really a viable idea for business users who're calling five persons especially if those five persons are abroad.

Enter the Powwownow app. This app lets you email the participants to schedule your conference calls. The email contains the time and date of the conference call, the dial-in number, and the PIN. Again, this app is targeted mainly for the business users as the scheduler is especially useful if the participants in the conference call are abroad. One cool feature of the app is that when a participant calls early, they'll hear music in the background. Powwownow also offers a package wherein if you have participants abroad, the call-in number they can dial can be a local number if the country they're in is supported, thereby saving on international calls.

One thing that might irritate some users of the app is that if you're adding participants from your iPhone contacts, the app only adds the mobile number and does not let you choose if you want to call the participant's work number or home number. This will be annoying since if you want to call a participant's home/work number, you have to either create a contact on the app or you could temporarily assign the participant's home/work number as a mobile number in your iPhone contacts.

For ordinary users who're using conference calls just to chat with friends or gossip amongst friends, this app isn't really for you, I'd say just use the native conference call function on the iPhone or your capable handset. However, for business users who are looking to save on conference calls especially abroad, then this app together with Powwownow's International Access offer might be for you.

If you're like everybody else, I'm pretty sure you're excited about the Motorola Atrix. I already did an analysis of what makes the Atrix so awesome and a must-have on my previous post. In the US, the Motorola Atrix 4G is set for an AT&T launch, with some rumors saying it'll be available by February 11th, the latest being March 1st of this Quarter. Well, we won't have a simultaneous release of the Atrix with our American brothers and we'll be getting a later launch date, see the details after the break.

If you're a gadget/mobile phone fanatic, you might have heard about the Motorola Atrix getting the rounds in various technology blogs. That's because the Motorola Atrix is the most anticipated mobile phone this 2011. At the recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show, it got most of the "best" awards. So why is this mobile phone the most anticipated? Well, let's find out.

Hardware

Well first and foremost, the Motorola Atrix 4G boasts that it's the first mobile phone to have a 1GHz dual core processor on a mobile phone. That's almost as powerful as most netbooks that were introduced last year. Aside from the 1GHz processor, it also has a 1GB RAM, put that two together and this mobile phone is more powerful than the iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tab. The Motorola Atrix's hardware also boasts of a fingerprint sensor, now while fingerprint sensors are nothing new on mobile phones, coupled with Android 2.2 and a little ingenuity, I'm sure there will be a lot of interesting apps that would crop up at the Android marketplace for the Motorola Atrix.

Other notable hardware on this mobile includes, a 4 inch gorilla glass screen, HDMI port, 5 megapixel camera, microSD slot, 802.11n WiFi antennae, and a GPS antennae.
