Though Alcatel can’t compete with the big 5 mobile phone manufacturers in terms of sale, they are still able to come up with mobile phones that are not only solid and have good design, but most importantly—cheap. The new Alcatel OT-V770 is one of those mobile phones.

Design

The Alcatel OT-V770 is only 10mm thick and I think it is one of Alcatel’s first triband phones. This phone only has a 1.9 inches display though it supports 256k colors. Now that I don’t understand, why put 256k colors on the Alcatel OT-V770’s 1.9 inch screen when hardly anyone could appreciate that in a screen that small, oh well, I guess only Alcatel will know.

Features

The Alcatel OT-V770 has a 1.3 mega pixel camera with video capture capability and it can double as a plug and play webcam. The Alcatel OT-V770 can also double as an MP3 player, however the internal memory of 10MB is rather small but this phone comes with a 2GB microSD card so you should have enough space to store your music. The Alcatel OT-V770’s music player supports playback of MP3, AAC and AAC+ files and it is compatible with Bluetooth Stereo A2DP Profile. The Alcatel OT-V770 has a touch sensitive keypad, however, it lacks ridges between numbers so expect to occasionally or frequently (depending on the size of your fingers) to type in two numbers at once. The rather unusual placement of the zero, number sign and asterisk on the Alcatel OT-V770’s keypad would leave you confused at times.

Conclusion

Alcatel is known for selling very cheap phones and if that is true with the Alcatel OT-V770 then the web camera function and Bluetooth Stereo A2DP profile features would be enough to get more than your money’s worth.
