Software to unlock iPhone 3G???!!

I've come upon a site that claims to unlock iPhone 3G. Though the iPhone Dev Team, the team responsible for releasing the Pwnage Tool that can jailbreak your iPhone (this tool lets you use third party software not downloaded from the App Store), has not yet released their official software for unlocking the iPhone 3G though from the looks of it, it is possible, unlock-the-iphone.com already claims that they can unlock the iPhone 3G via software without using any simcard (which is currently the only known way of unlocking the iPhone).

They even have an unlock the 3G iPhone reviews page with a certain Darryl from California claiming that the software had indeed unlocked his iPhone 3G. This software also claims to unlock your old 2G iPhone with the latest 2.0.2 firmware version.

It's a pretty big claim but the company backs it with a 100% money back guarantee. You'll have to fork up $24.99 for the software but you can get lifetime updates. Since I have no way of testing this, if anyone of you is itching to get their iPhone 3G unlocked and won't mind parting with $24.99, feel free to leave a comment here if indeed the software does work. Again, as I always say when dealing with new sites: caveat emptor.

    I would be careful, the guy who owns the domain unlock-the-iphone.com/ has it up for sale ! if the software was any good he wouldn't be selling the domain name.

    i visited and paid (rather foolishly) and suprise suprise.. It DID NOT work

    The site owner is a crook and I will hunt them down!!

    Sorry to hear that. But the iPhone Dev Team was able to finally find a new unlock software for it and it's free. It will be available this new years' eve. Check out this entry: 3G iPhone unlock.

    There is now software to unlock the iPhone 3G... it's called yellowsn0w, you can get a nice guide with screenshots and premium support from Unlock iPhone HQ
