So, the iPhone is still unavailable and has a 3 week waiting time at any Apple Store, Orange doesn't have it in stock and so does Vodafone. O2, the original exclusive carrier of the iPhone 3G, seems the only carrier to have it in stock, at least, that's what their online stock finder says.

If it's to be believed, it looks like there are still a lot of O2 stores that carries the iPhone 4 in stock, but the problem? I've been told that they're only offering to EXISTING O2 customers first. And, unlike the iPhone 3G and 3GS which they offer unlocked, because of the dwindling stock and high demand, O2 is not offering the iPhone 4 unlock during the first few weeks of availability, AND the iPhone 4 is still unavailable for PAYG. So if you're a die-hard Vodafone, Orange or T-Mobile customer but you're raring to get the iPhone 4, it's either you get stuck with a 24 month contract with O2 to get the best smartphone on the planet today, or wait a few more weeks until Vodafone and Orange, and yes, even T-Mobile, has it on stock. Decisions, decisions.
