Though Nokia has no need to worry about Apple eating up their sales in terms of over-all mobile phone sales, don’t expect them to just hand over the smart phone market to Apple on a silver platter. And so enters the Nokia E71.

Design

The Nokia E71 is I think only one of four of Nokia’s mobile phones that has this Blackberry-like style. The Nokia E71 has a stainless steel case and is available in two colours, gray steel and white steel. A large 2.36 inch QVGA display complements the metallic finish.

Features

The Nokia E71 is ultimately an email phone. From its QWERTY keyboard, large display, to the Microsoft Exchange Server support, everything is designed for business individuals and to kick RIM’s arse.

Other worthwhile features that business users would find particularly useful is the built in mobile VPN on the Nokia E71 so they can easily access their company’s intranet plus data encryption capabilities for their phone memory and microSD card to protect their valuable documents/emails.

Other features include: 3.2 megapixel camera, A2DP profile, musc ringtones(real tones), built-in A-GPS, 3G with HSDPA, and WiFi.

Outlook

The Nokia E71 seems promising though the QWERTY keys and D-pad on the device seems a little bit hard to work with since it all seems bunched up. The Nokia S60 devices have always been user friendly and if you’re a die-hard Nokia fan looking for a smart phone, the Nokia E71 would probably be a good choice though you can always wait for clear cut reviews.
