It seems that Sony Ericsson is bent on dominating the camera phone department. Along with introducing its 8 mega pixel wonder that is geared towards being a replacement for digital cameras, the Sony Ericsson C905, it also introduced this small wonder, the Sony Ericsson S302 Snapshot.

Design

The Sony Ericsson S302 is a small, slim, candy bar phone that you can easily whip out of your pocket whenever you feel the need to snap a quick photo, thus the nickname, Snapshot.

Features

Though the Sony Ericsson S302 is mainly a camera phone, I don't know why Sony Ericsson only loaded this with a 2 mega pixel sensor. Maybe so it could be an affordable camera phone. In order to make the Sony Ericsson S302 more affordable, Sony took away the high end features found on the Sony Ericsson C905 such as face detection and image stabilization but the S302 has the photo fix and photo light functions. The S302 has 20MB internal memory expandable with a memory stick micro.

Outlook

Though you really can’t do much with a 2 mega pixel camera on a mobile phone, the Sony Ericsson S302 might be a good choice for those looking for an affordable camera phone. Those who’re looking for something much more than 2 megapixels, you should try taking a look at the Sony Ericsson K850i or the Sony Ericsson K770i. Since Sony would be releasing new products this year, expect the price for the K850i and the K770i to drop and you have yourself a good quality camera phone.

Great phone EXCEPT for so many "clipped" features. Can't transfer in SIM entries with more than one number, can't do bluetooth backup of addresses, isn't supported by Sony PC Suite. So many normal Sony features missing. So sad that they had to strip it down when it is such a great looking phone for someone who just wants a phone.
